One Year Later, Working Families Are Paying the Price for Republicans' Billionaire Giveaway

WASHINGTON, DC – To mark one year since President Trump and congressional Republicans slashed health care and ripped away food assistance from working families to fund tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy Executive Director Sondra Goldschein released the following statement:

“Republicans chose tax breaks for billionaires over a child's next meal, a senior's health care, and the financial security of working families.

“They called it economic policy. Americans recognize it for what it is: highway robbery.

“We said they would own this decision for the rest of their political careers. A year later, the consequences are undeniable, and so is their responsibility.”

As a result of this legislation:

• 10 million more Americans are expected to be uninsured by 2034.

• 4 million Americans lost access to affordable and reliable food, due to SNAP cuts.

• Nearly 8 million people across the country could lose access to Medicaid.
