Citing Commitment to Lower Cost of Caregiving, Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC Endorses Shannon Taylor for Virginia’s 1st Congressional District

WASHINGTON – Today, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) announced its endorsement of Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor in her bid to represent Virginia’s 1st Congressional District, a key pickup opportunity for Democrats in what will be one of the most closely watched races in the country.

This endorsement reflects CFFE PAC's commitment to electing candidates who will make life more affordable by tackling the crippling cost of caregiving through investments in affordable child and elder care and paid family and medical leave. Electing a Democratic House majority is an essential first step to passing these policies to reduce the cost of care.

As Henrico Commonwealth's Attorney, Shannon Taylor has focused her career on keeping her community safe, so that Virginia families can thrive. In Congress, she will work to make child care and senior care more affordable, pass paid family leave, lower prescription drug costs, protect Medicare and Social Security, expand access to affordable health care, and oppose policies that raise costs or strip away coverage. Taylor believes working families deserve the freedom to build a secure future without being squeezed by the rising cost of everyday life.

In contrast, Taylor’s opponent, Republican Rep. Rob Wittman, has repeatedly supported policies that are against the best interests of his constituents. Wittman voted for a Republican tax bill that put the health and financial security of Virginia families on the chopping block. Because of his vote, nearly 350,000 Virginians are at risk of losing their health coverage. This vote has also reduced, or in many cases eliminated, food assistance for roughly 850,000 people in Virginia. Instead of standing up for the people he represents, Wittman proudly backed policies that make it harder for working families to afford the care they need while delivering tax breaks that benefited himself. Virginians deserve a representative who will protect access to affordable health care, not vote to take it away.

Across the state, Virginia families are struggling to get by. A July 2026 poll found that inflation and the high cost of living is the top concern for Virginians, underscoring the importance of sending leaders like Shannon Taylor to Congress to fight for working families.

Separate from its electoral work, CFFE PAC’s sister organization, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy, launched Affordable Virginia, focused on holding Virginia’s elected officials accountable after they promised to stand with working families and lower costs but instead cast vote after vote that neglected the needs of their constituents. Affordable Virginia ran a major paid media campaign elevating the stories of local families to urge officials like Rep. Wittman to reverse course and focus on making life more affordable.
