Citing Commitment to Lower Cost of Caregiving, Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC Endorses Jon Ossoff for Reelection to the United States Senate

WASHINGTON – Today, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) announced its endorsement of Senator Jon Ossoff in his bid for reelection to represent Georgia in the U.S. Senate, a key opportunity for Democrats to win control of the Senate in what will be one of the most closely watched races in the country.

This endorsement reflects CFFE PAC's commitment to electing candidates who will make life more affordable by tackling the crippling cost of caregiving through investments in affordable child and elder care and paid family and medical leave. Securing a Democratic Senate majority is an essential first step to passing these policies to reduce the cost of care.

“Reelecting Senator Jon Ossoff would create a significant opportunity to elect a Democratic Senate majority that will actually work to lower the cost of caregiving in this country,” said Sondra Goldschein, Executive Director of the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC. “Unlike his opponent, Senator Ossoff has spent his time in the Senate fighting to lower costs and expand opportunity for working families. He understands that too many Americans are being squeezed by the rising cost of child and elder care, housing, health care, groceries, and other everyday essentials, and that Washington should be working to ease those burdens, not make them worse.”

“In the Senate, I fought the drug companies to cap the cost of insulin for seniors, I’m taking on the insurance companies to ban them from denying needed health care, and I’ve exposed the mistreatment of military families by private housing contractors. I exposed abuse and neglect in Georgia’s foster care system and passed a law forcing Big Tech to report online predators. I’m grateful for this endorsement and will continue working to support Georgia families,” said Senator Ossoff.

Throughout his time in the Senate, Senator Jon Ossoff has worked to protect Georgia families, lower everyday costs, and expand economic opportunity. During his first term, Senator Ossoff helped pass bipartisan legislation into law to lower housing costs, lower mental health care costs for military families and veterans, and lower drug costs for Georgia families. Senator Ossoff has also delivered federal funding to expand access to diapers and other supplies for families across Georgia, to upgrade hospitals and health clinics across the state, and build more affordable housing. During his second term, Senator Ossoff will continue fighting for policies that lower costs and make it easier for Georgia families to care for their loved ones.

In contrast, Ossoff’s opponent, Republican Rep. Mike Collins, has repeatedly voted for policies that harm Georgia families. Instead of fighting to make life more affordable, Collins backed the Republican tax bill, putting over 58,000 older adults and 96,000 adults with children in Georgia at risk of losing some of their SNAP benefits due to the new requirements. Additionally, Collins voted to double health insurance premiums for more than 1 million Georgians and caused about 350,000 Georgians to lose their coverage altogether after the ACA tax credits expired.

Across the state, voters support kitchen-table economic solutions that will lower costs for working families in Georgia. In a poll, Georgians voting in the Republican primary cited inflation and cost of living as the state’s biggest issue, demonstrating the urgency of reelecting leaders like Jon Ossoff to the U.S. Senate to continue championing bipartisan initiatives that prioritize the needs of working families.
