Citing Commitment to Lower Cost of Caregiving, Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC Endorses Elaine Luria for Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District

WASHINGTON – Today, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) announced its endorsement of former Congresswoman Elaine Luria in her bid to represent Virginia’s 2nd congressional district, a key pickup opportunity for Democrats in what will be one of the most closely watched races in the country.

This endorsement reflects CFFE PAC's commitment to electing candidates who will make life more affordable by tackling the crippling cost of caregiving through investments in affordable child and elder care and paid family and medical leave. Electing a Democratic House majority is an essential first step to passing these policies to reduce the cost of caregiving.

When she returns to Congress, Elaine will continue fighting for commonsense policies that make caring for loved ones more affordable, so that working families don’t just get by, but get ahead.”

Throughout her career in public service, Elaine Luria has fought to strengthen Virginia's economy and lower costs for working families. A Navy veteran and former representative for VA-2, Luria co-sponsored the Child Care for Working Families Act to make child care more affordable and supported expanding the Child Tax Credit. Additionally, Luria has championed policies to reduce the cost of prescription drugs, protect and improve access to affordable health care, expand veterans’ benefits, and fought to safeguard Social Security and Medicare. In Congress, Luria will fight to make everyday life more affordable and build an economy that works for working families.

In contrast, Luria's opponent, Rep. Jen Kiggans, has supported policies that would increase costs for Virginia families, while threatening access to critical programs. When Rep. Jen Kiggans voted for the Republican Tax Law, she ripped Medicaid away from 260,000 Virginians – including 47,000 veterans – and more than 100,000 people across the Commonwealth lost access to nutrition assistance. She has also backed Trump’s tariff policies, raising the cost of everyday goods and making it harder for families to make ends meet.

Across Virginia, voters are looking for leaders who will tackle the rising cost of living and make it easier to afford the care their families depend on. According to a July 2026 poll, inflation and the high cost of living rank as the number one concern in the Commonwealth, underscoring the need to send leaders like Elaine Luria to Congress, who will fight to put working families first.

Separate from its electoral work, CFFE PAC’s sister organization, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy, launched Affordable Virginia, focused on holding Congresswoman Jen Kiggans accountable after she promised to stand with working families and lower costs but instead cast vote after vote that neglected the needs of her constituents. Affordable Virginia spent more than $2.3 million elevating the stories of these Virginians through paid media and organizing, urging Rep. Kiggans to reverse course and focus on making life more affordable.
