Citing Commitment to Lower Cost of Caregiving, Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC Endorses Christina Hines for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District

WASHINGTON – Today, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) announced its endorsement of former prosecutor Christina Hines in her bid to represent Michigan’s 10th Congressional District, a key pickup opportunity for Democrats in what will be one of the most closely watched races in the country.

This endorsement reflects CFFE PAC's commitment to electing candidates who will make life more affordable by tackling the crippling cost of caregiving through investments in affordable child and elder care and paid family and medical leave. Electing a Democratic House majority is an essential first step to passing these policies to reduce the cost of caregiving. CFFE PAC has a field office in the district and plans to spend millions of dollars across Michigan to elect Democrats up and down the ballot, like Christina Hines. That includes an initial $1.7 investment in field organizing programs with our partners at LCV Victory Fund and Conservation Voters of Michigan PAC.

As a working mom, she also knows firsthand what it means when child care, prescriptions, groceries, utilities, and housing take a bigger bite out of the family budget. Christina will bring those experiences to Congress and fight to lower the cost of care so that Michigan families can achieve the economic security they deserve.”

“As a mom raising three children, and a caregiver for my own mother before she passed, I know firsthand that the cost of caregiving can make it harder for families to get by,” said Christina Hines. “But the cost isn’t just a financial one. When we are stretched so thin - between work, paying the bills, and caring for the people we love - it means having less time and energy to simply be there for the people who need us the most. Too many of us are being forced to choose between work and caring for the people we love. In Congress, I’ll fight to make childcare and caregiving more affordable and support working families.”

Before running for Congress, Christina Hines built her career as a prosecutor serving communities in Wayne and Washtenaw counties. Hines handled cases involving sexual assault, child abuse, human trafficking, and other serious crimes, and later led the Special Victims Unit and Appeals Division in Washtenaw County. Now, Hines is running for Congress to lower the cost of groceries, child care, housing, health care, and energy while protecting Social Security and creating good-paying jobs. In Congress, Hines will bring the same focus on protecting her community and holding bad actors accountable that defined her career as a prosecutor.

In contrast, Hines’ opponent, Republican Michael Bouchard Jr, has aligned himself closely with Donald Trump and his economic agenda. Bouchard, who was endorsed by Trump, has pledged to support the president’s approach to the economy, but Trump’s tariffs have raised costs for Michigan businesses and families – the Great Lakes State has been hit the third hardest in the country by Trump’s trade war. Bouchard also supports the Iran War, calling it ‘necessary’ as Michiganders contend with higher prices at the pump. At a time when Michigan families are struggling with the cost of groceries, health care, child care, housing, and other necessities, they deserve a representative who will put their needs first and fight to make life more affordable.

In Michigan, 85% of voters say the cost of living is higher than it was a year ago, with the economy and affordability remaining a top concern. The cost of care is also weighing on Michigan families, with 29% of Michiganders age 50 and older providing care to someone with a health condition or disability. Michigan families deserve a leader who will take on those challenges—not make them worse. Christina Hines will fight to lower costs, give working families more breathing room, and ensure every family has the opportunity to get ahead.
