WASHINGTON – Today, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) announced its endorsement of Brian Poindexter in his bid to represent Ohio’s 7th congressional district, a key pickup opportunity for Democrats and one of the most closely watched races in the country.
This endorsement reflects CFFE PAC's commitment to electing candidates who will make life more affordable by tackling the crippling cost of caregiving through investments in affordable child and elder care and paid family and medical leave. Electing a Democratic House majority is an essential first step to passing these policies to reduce the cost of caregiving.
“Electing Brian Poindexter is an important step toward building a Congress that puts working families first and lowers the cost of caring for yourself and your loved ones,” said Sondra Goldschein, Executive Director of the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC. “As a union ironworker, father of three, and local leader, Brian knows firsthand the financial pressures families face every day. That's why he's running for Congress—to lower the cost of caregiving, strengthen support for working parents, and make life more affordable for Ohio families.”
“Families in my district are struggling with an economy that is way out of balance,” said union ironworker Brian Poindexter. “I am running to bring down costs so working people can afford the basics like caring for themselves and their families.”
Throughout his career, Brian Poindexter has worked to strengthen economic opportunity for Ohio's working families by protecting workers’ rights, supporting public education, and expanding access to good-paying union jobs. As a union ironworker and organizer, apprenticeship instructor, and Brook Park City Council member, he has opposed “Right to Work” laws, fought for higher wages, and helped bring more than 6,000 skilled trade jobs to Brook Park. In Congress, Poindexter will continue working to lower costs, strengthen economic security, and ensure working families have the support they need to succeed.
In contrast, his opponent Congressman Max Miller has repeatedly voted for policies that increase costs for Ohio families and undermine their economic security. Miller supported the Republican Tax Bill, putting health care coverage for an estimated 483,000 Ohioans and SNAP benefits for 771,000 Ohio families at risk. He has also supported Trump's war in Iran, which is projected to cost the average Ohio family $3,300 by the end of 2026 by increasing the price of everyday goods. Rather than working to lower costs and strengthen financial security, Miller has backed an agenda that leaves Ohio families paying more while receiving less.
Across the state, families are struggling with the rising costs of housing, groceries, health care, and caregiving. More than 40% of Ohio households cannot make ends meet, including 73% of single-parent households.
Additionally, Ohioans cite inflation and high prices as the most important issue influencing their vote this fall. Ohio families deserve a leader who will take on those challenges—not make them worse. Brian Poindexter will continue fighting to lower costs, strengthen financial security, and ensure every family has the opportunity to get ahead.
Separate from its electoral work, CFFE PAC’s sister organization, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy’s Affordable Ohio program, focused on holding elected officials accountable when they fail to meet the needs of working families and urging them to change course. Affordable Ohio ran a $2 million paid media and direct mail campaign in OH-07, elevating local families’ stories to urge Rep. Miller to change course and focus on making life more affordable.

The Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC works to elect candidates who believe all people should be able to afford to care for themselves and their loved ones. Since 2015, we have run some of the largest electoral programs in battleground states to support candidates that are fighting for policies like paid family and medical leave and quality, affordable child care, elder care and health care. We know how to effectively communicate about high costs and the economy in the way people actually think about it – emphasizing who is committed to lowering costs, and who isn’t. We use this insight to reach voters at the scale needed to have an impact, building support for candidates up and down the ballot who are committed to lowering the cost of caregiving.
