Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy Launches $2 Million Program to Hold Pennsylvania Republicans Accountable for Failing to Address Rising Costs

Philadelphia, PA – Today, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy launched Affordable Pennsylvania, a $2 million program to expose elected leaders who have failed to stand  with working families and lower costs. This program will include  grassroots organizing, direct mail, digital outreach and television ads.

Representatives Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), Rob Bresnahan (PA-08) and  Scott Perry (PA-10) have repeatedly lied to their constituents, vowing  to protect programs families rely on and then doing the exact  opposite–all to fund tax breaks for billionaires. By elevating the  voices of constituents who are struggling to make ends meet, Affordable  Pennsylvania aims to persuade these members to reverse course and  support legislation to lower costs for families.

“Despite promising again and again to address the high costs of  living, including the cost of health care and child care, Reps.  Mackenzie, Bresnahan and Perry keep voting to give tax breaks to  billionaires and giant corporations without helping the families they  were elected to serve,” said Affordable Pennsylvania Campaign Director Rachele Fortier. “Affordable Pennsylvania will expose elected leaders’ real records to  their constituents by bringing families’ stories to the forefront. These  officials will have to answer for their records—and hopefully after  listening to their constituents, do more to lower costs for families.”

Reps. Mackenzie, Bresnahan and Perry have each voted to:

• Slash healthcare for families across Pennsylvania. They each voted for a bill that is guaranteed to cut Medicaid and Medicare benefits. And, they voted to gut health care for veterans who were exposed to burn pits and Agent Orange while deployed.

• Make it harder for families to afford groceries by cutting programs that expand access to nutritious food, which over 2 million Pennsylvanians rely on.

• Jeopardize Social Security for at least 325,148 people across Pennsylvania.

• Allow the Trump administration to unilaterally impose unprecedented tariffs, which will drive up the cost of everyday goods for families across Pennsylvania.
